HIFU is a high-frequency acoustic wave that causes the movement of cells in tissues. The wave has a limited range and can accumulate at various tissue depths – three depths are used in aesthetic medicine – 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mm. Concentrated ultrasound beam reaching a certain depth causes movement and friction of heat-generating cells, which in turn leads to micro burns inside the tissue – they have a diameter of 0.5 to 1 mm. The surface of the skin remains intact, but underneath there are intensive reconstruction and regeneration processes stimulated by the damage.

What does the HIFU procedure look like?
